Please check the following Frequently Asked Questions as these may provide you with additional information needed to plan for the event, and of course reduce our admin answering the same questions over again!!

Alcohol
Is there a licensed bar on the site? Definately...in fact there are two!
In 'The Torchmakers Thumb' you will find an excellent selection of real ales and ciders, including of course Lewes' very own Harveys.
Our second bar serves a much wider choice of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks including lagers, wine, spirits, alcopops and soft drinks.
Are drinks prices expensive? Certainly not. The bars are operated by our own team of volunteers from the Cliffe Bonfire Society, and as such we are able to keep prices reasonable. It is unlikely you will find drinks anymore expensive than at your local, and all profits from the bar go to the society funds.
Can we bring our own drinks to site? Why would you want to???
Yes, provided you are over 18 you are welcome to bring alcohol onto the site, but we would encourage you to use the facilities on site as this helps to secure the festivals future.
Please note that alcohol will not be served to under 18's or to anybody whom we believe to be buying it on behalf of a junior. Alcohol will be confiscated from any junior ticket holder, or from anyone who appears to be under 18, unless a valid proof of ID can be provided.
Animals
Can I bring my dog(s) to the festival? Dogs are welcome, however we do not recommend you bringing them.
The large numbers of people, loud music and unusual surroundings can upset the animals and cause them distress.
Any dog that is considered to be in this condition or found to be making a nuisance must be removed from the site.
Should you bring your dog(s) to site, please ensure that you are fully responsible for them at all times, and that all mess is immediately cleared up.

Camping
Is it ok for us to bring a caravan or motorhome? Yes, no problem with that, however if your motorhome is a very large model we would recommend checking the size with us first due to access restrictions.
Are there toilets available 24 hours? Yes, there are toilets on site but they are not illuminated after around 1am. A torch would be recommended, and just in case, your own supply of toilet paper!!
Are there shower facilities? No, unfortunately not.
Is there a water supply available? A bowser is provided on site that you may use as a source of water, but there is no hot water available.
Can you provide a power hook-up? No, mains power is not available in the camping area.
Can I park where I camp? This is currently under review. It is likely that the car park will be in a seperate field this year for health and safety reasons.
Can we put up flags in the camping area? You can in many areas, however there are certain restrictions because of high voltage overhead power cables crossing the site.
Can we fly kites? This is not advised because of the overhead power cables crossing the site.
Is the campsite secure? Security guards do patrol the site, however we cannot guarantee the security of your camping equipment, vehicle or personal property. It is recommended that you leave valuables at home, and conceal anything that you must bring with you either on your person or in a locked vehicle.
I really really need somewhere to plug in my hair straighteners.... please can you help me?? Certainly, Lewes has a number of good hotels.... :)
Catering
Is food available on site? Yes, we have a variety of good quality food outlets on site serving the usual burgers, hot dogs, chips, jacket potatoes, ice-creams, donuts etc. We also hope to have additional outlets this year offering a wider choice of food but details of these are not yet confirmed.
Can we have a BBQ on site? You are welcome to have a BBQ in the camping area, but these must be raised off of the ground and attended at all times. All disposable BBQs and embers must be properly discarded after use.
Are breakfasts available? Yes, the burger wagons also serve breakfast rolls, sausage or bacon sandwiches, tea and coffee etc.
Clothing
What should I wear? It's a music festival...pretty much anything goes!
Obviously we can't tell you what the weather will be like, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed on that one. Be prepared though for whatever may come our way, sun, rain, hail, whatever!
Do I need welly boots? Again, what you wear on your feet is your choice, but remember it is a field and even in the best of weather it can get a little muddy in places. High heels are not recommended!
Tickets
Where can I buy advance tickets? See the tickets tab on this site. As soon as they available you will be able to purchase online.
Can I buy tickets anywhere other than online? Yes, you will be able to find details of ticket outlets on the tickets page of this site.
It is cheaper to by tickets in advance than on the gate. Why is this? As with all major events we offer a benefit for buying early. It also gives us a good indication of the number of people likely to attend the event which helps with planning.
Can I buy tickets at the gate? Yes, but it is cheaper to buy in advance
Is there a junior ticket available? Yes, there is a reduced price ticket option for under 16's. Please note however that all under 18s must be accompanied by an adult, and there is a maximum allowance of 2 under 18 tickets per adult.
A valid proof of ID may be requested
I only want to see one band...can I have a discount? No, unfortunately not.
I work in the music industry... can I have a discount? No, unfortunately not.

Rock In The Bog began in 2003 when a group of hardened members of Lewes' Cliffe Bonfire Society decided to christen the newly purchased firesite with a camping weekend. Unfortunately the site lies near the River Ouse, and when somebody upstream decided to open a sluice gate against the flow of the incoming tide, our campers found themselves in the middle of a slightly waterlogged field, with their portaloo drifting on the insurgent waters!

Unperturbed by the events of the previous year the group returned to the site in 2004, this time with additional friends, additional supplies, and a slightly larger sound-system, and seeing the potential for this to become an annual event, and one that could be opened up to both the wider membership and local community, Rock In The Bog was officially born.

Each year since then the event has grown both in size and in popularity, and is now not only a major fund-raiser for the society, but also one of the premier music events in the South of England.
Throughout the year organisers are swamped with requests from bands from accross the country and indeed Europe wanting to play at the event, and we are now listed in most of the major UK festival calendars.

Despite the success and the potential for continued growth, organisers are determined to keep the event very raw in it's nature. Rock In The Bog is a family friendly festival that has been likened to the early (non-commercial) days of Glastonbury, and whilst we shall endeavour to keep improving the site and its facilities, the feel of the event will remain the same.

We look forward to seeing you in July!
fat belly jones Our Momentum

Binded by chains no longer, Our Momentum breaks free to express the depths of emotion through an explosion of pop/rock/punk/neo classical music. Dressed in dark Oriental/Gothic clothing with a hint of cute, they are most certainly something that will not be forgotten in a hurry as they thrash around the stage.

With just a year behind their backs and friendship even further, it is clear that Our Momentum has a clear driven focus of success as they crash out melodies of musical inspiration drawn from Evanescence, Blink 182, Racer X and even Sebastian Bach.

Known for their versitality, Our Momentum also likes to give their fans a show of popular modern rock from the likes of Paramore, Evanescence, No Doubt, Blondie and many other female fronted bands.

Fat Belly Jones is a local 7, 8, 9 or even 10-piece band (dependng on availability and of course stage size!), described in their words..."playing toons you can't help jumpin' to.. We is SKA, we is SOUL, we is FAT, we is none of us called JONES !!"

The band are growing in popularity week on week, and playing a wide range of covers that many will both know and love FBJ are sure to set the mood perfectly for the weekend ahead.

During a recent spell where the band found themselves without a lead vocalist, Fat Belly Jones enlisted the vocal talents of Guy Davidson to temporarily fill the void. A regular on the Sussex music scene as front man of the extreeeeeemly popular 'Jellyhead' Guy is no stranger to Rock In The Bog having played there for the last 2 years to great acclaim. Guy loves doing the edgy rock with Jellyhead, but also loves soul music, has found himself beginning to like Ska, and has now found himself as the permanent front man for both bands! (he still hates disco though!!!!).

We are looking forward to having the bandon-board for this years festival, bringing together as they do some of Sussex' finest musicians, and we think that you are gonna love them too!

Here at 'Bog HQ' we couldn't believe it when in the space of 48 hours, three sperate and entirely un-related bands from Scotland approached us wanting to play at the festival. especially when we heard the callibre of music from Fires Attract.

The Glasgow based band have never travelled this far South to play, and look upon it as a bit of an adventure into new territory, and a chance to bring their music to an entirely new audience.

Fires Attract descrbe themselves as an alternative pop rock band, and have could be likened to Canadian rock band 'Simple Plan'.
They released their debut EP, 'Sizing Up Giants' in 2011 when they also toured the UK supporting American Band 'Neon Trees', headlined the famous King Tuts, and played a live session on Radio 1's BBC Introducing show with Ally McCrae.
Their second EP is due out during early 2012.

We love to be able to bring new music to the festival, particularly from bands that you would not often get the chance to see locally. Fires Attract definately fit into that category!!

Guildford based Rock/Alternative act The Antidote formed in early 2011 but have already toured poland with superband UK Legends made up from Thin Lizzy, The Animals and Smokey and taken Warsaw by storm!

Inspired by Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Foo Fighters and Oasis The Antidote connect the spontaneity within music to their performance. Lead singer Moritz Muller aka "the ritz" says:"There is something magical that happens when bands like Oasis perform, you can see an energetic connection between the creative genius of Noel and the arrogant showmanship of Liam!"

The band formed of Moritz on vocals and violin bass, Colin Marshall aka The Polar Bear on drums , Joe Jeffryes and Jack Barclay both on guitar consider themselves to be a tightly connected family, each with their own part to play.
Musically they can draw upon a myriad of international influences as Colin comes from the wide open spaces of Canada, Moritz from Stuttgart, a beautiful city where he has spent more than one contemplative late night looking over the beautiful city lights. Jack, like Joe also from Surrey spent many years living in america where he developed a love of all thoughts americana, including fender guitars.

The band are already playing on the Camden circuit and have supported the likes of Nylon Sky and Evaline, and have been booked as support artists for various international festivals this year. We believe that very soon you will be seeing them as a headline performer!

Established five piece rock band 'Voodoo Vegas' have been busy touring all over the UK and Europe the last two years,

In 2011 they recorded their first studio album, signed a management deal based in Germany, and have recently signed a contract to have their music used on US TV show 'Ring of Honor Wrestling'.

Malcolm Dome of Classic Rock Magazine and Total Rock Radio says "Finally, an unsigned band worth checking out if you enjoy The Answer. Voodoo Vegas are local rock heroes and their self-released Live album suggests they’ve the ability to take their Guns N’ Roses and AC/DC influences into their own territory. Keep an eye on ‘em."

Voodoo Vegas are a raw and explosive rock band, and have played with the likes of Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple and Black Country Communion), the Quireboys, Uriah Heep, Ricky Warwick (Thin Lizzy), Ginger (Wildhearts), America’s WWE’s star Chris Jericho’s band ‘Fozzy, Blaze Bailey (Iron Maiden) and Gilby Clarke (Guns 'n' Roses).
